Biscuit manufacturer Parle left internet users surprised after it shared a post featuring an influencer's face on its packet's cover instead of the iconic Parle-G girl. The amusing post was in response to content creator Zervaan J Bunshah's viral video where he put forth a hilarious question to his followers. "If you meet the owner of Parle, do you call him Parle sir, Mr. Parle, or Parle G?" he asked in a video. In the clip, Mr. Bunshan is seen sitting in a car with a confused look on his face while the catchy 'Ae Jee Oo Jee' track from Anil Kapoor's movie 'Ram Lakhan' plays in the background.

The video, shared three days back, went viral eliciting rib-tickling responses from Instagram users.

Watch the video here:

The video also caught the attention of Parle-G and the biscuit manufacturer joined in the fun with a witty comment. The official Parle-G account commented, "Bunshah ji, you can call us the OG."

Later, Parle-G also featured a smiling image of Mr Bunshah on the biscuit wrapper instead of the iconic girl. "While you figure out what to call the owner of Parle-G, you can call us your favorite biscuit to enjoy with a cup of chai. What say @bunshah ji,'' read the caption.

Here's the post:

Elated with the gesture, Mr Bunshah responded to the post, talking about how he loved Parle-G biscuits as a child.

“BAHAHAHAHAHA SEASONS GREETINGS INDEED. Parle G will always be my nourishment growing up, after any excursion, party, gathering, craving, fancy cake mein bhi ingredient rehta hai! I toh ate the biscuits as a kid thinking I'd become smarter. Usme toh kalti diya tum logon ne,” he wrote.

Internet users were also delighted with the heartwarming gesture and many called the content creator lucky. One user wrote, ''Wow, this is an amazing gesture.'' Another commented, ''This is hella creative no way.''

A third said, ''What an honour.'' A fourth added, ''Now we want @bunshah photo on every packet of our Parle G biscuit.''

Most of the roughly 300 Indians travelling on a plane detained near Paris over suspicions of human trafficking will be free to resume their trip Monday, French judicial sources said Sunday.

The Nicaragua-bound Airbus A340 and its 303 Indian passengers have been held at Vatry airport, 150 kilometres (95 miles) east of Paris, since arriving Thursday from Dubai for refuelling after an anonymous tip-off that it was carrying potential victims of human trafficking.

Four French judges began questioning the passengers Sunday to verify the "conditions and purposes" of their travel, and have two days to complete speaking to the passengers.

The judges have the authority to extend the detention, but Paris prosecutors told AFP they expect the plane and its passengers to be cleared for departure late Monday morning "at the latest," without naming a destination.

The passengers of the flight operated by Romanian company Legend Airlines are holed up in the airport. They include 11 unaccompanied minors, according to Paris prosecutors.

Two passengers have been detained since Friday "to verify" whether their role "may have been different than the others in this transport, and under what conditions and with what objectives."

Ten of the passengers have requested asylum, a source close to the case said.

Tarpaulin covered the entrance hall's glass exterior and nearby administrative buildings, while police and gendarmes prevented access.

Individual beds, as well as toilets and showers, have been installed, the local prefecture said.

The Indian embassy in Paris Saturday posted on X that "embassy consular staff" are on site to working with French authorities "for the welfare" of detained passengers for an "early resolution of the situation."

The 30 crew members were not detained. Some handled the Dubai-Vatry leg and others were to take over for the flight to Managua. According to Flightradar24, Legend Airlines has just four planes.

A source close to the inquiry told AFP that some of the Indian passengers were likely workers in the United Arab Emirates who may be traveling to Nicaragua as a jumping off spot for the United States or Canada.

A sixty-year-old woman in the US has recalled the time when she woke up with no recollection of the last 30 years of her life after she visited the hospital because of a headache. The intriguing medical case unfolded in 2018 when the woman then 56, awoke with the belief that she was still a teenager in the 1980s, New York Post reported. Kim Denicola, a resident of Louisiana, is now cherishing this Christmas season as she reflects on the many holidays lost to her mysterious memory loss.

''I've lost a lot of Christmases, so it's a big deal,'' Mrs Denicola, now 60, told WAFB. ''It's unbelievable to me as it probably is to other people. Never in my wildest dreams did I get up and go to bible study and think I'm going to wake up in the hospital and I'm going to be 60 years old,'' she added.

According to her family, she developed a blinding headache and sudden blurry vision while at a bible study. When she woke up in the hospital emergency room, she had no recollection that she was married and had two children. The last thing Mrs Denicola remembered was her final day of school.

''I was leaving school and heading for my car. I had just taken an exam because I was graduating my senior year. 'The nurse asked me: "Do you know what year it is?" I said: "Yes, ma'am it is 1980". She asked me who the president was and I said: "Ronald Reagan''.

She was also heartbroken to learn that both her mother and father had died years earlier.

Though she was diagnosed with transient global amnesia (TGA), doctors can't tell her for sure what happened despite extensive tests and scans. Five years later in 2023, the 60-year-old grandmother has still not recovered memories.

Doctors say that if her memories haven't returned by now, they are unlikely to ever resurface.

The woman is still trying to make sense of her new life and is in the process of getting to know her family anew, including her husband, children, and four grandchildren. She has also been reading journal entries to remember her life but says it feels like reading about someone else.

''I may have lost my memories, but guess what? We can make new ones,'' she said.

''You can't be mad and bitter because the good Lord left me here for a reason. Whatever that may be, I'm sure he'll let me know one way or another. And maybe this is it maybe it's to tell people you don't have to give up,'' she added.

Despite the difficulties, she is now re-discovering things she loved and insists that she's moving forward. Mrs Denicola said her Christmas dream is to have her entire family back together celebrating under one roof.

According to the National Library of Medicine, TGA often occurs during periods of ''particularly strenuous activity, high-stress events, or coitus, but it can be seen with migraines.'' It mostly affects individuals middle-aged and older.

A Manipur woman was shocked to see the name of a one-month-old infant, whom she knew, appear on social media posts as a "victim" of the ethnic violence that began on May 3.

Bisoya Loitongbam, 41, knew the infant as she had donated Rs 1 lakh for the treatment of Hirschsprung disease, a birth defect in which some nerve cells are missing in the large intestine.

The infant had been already under treatment at a hospital in the state capital Imphal for three weeks before May 3, the SOS note sent to prospective donors show. May 3 was the day clashes broke out between the hill-majority Kuki tribes and the valley-majority Meiteis.

"I got a call from the top district official on May 7 about a baby who needs to be admitted to a good hospital with advanced equipment. The next day I immediately sent Rs 1 lakh. I got to know from the doctors that the baby unfortunately died after surgery on May 9," Ms Loitongbam told NDTV on phone from Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow, where she is based.

She showed NDTV a screenshot of the money she sent using UPI for the infant's surgery.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

Ms Loitongbam is the national lead of the massively successful '10BedICU' project, founded by former Aadhaar chief technology officer (CTO) Srikanth Nadhamuni. The project is being run in many states and also supported by state governments. The project started in March 2021 amid the Covid pandemic to create intensive care unit (ICU) infrastructure in rural and smaller government hospitals.

"I feel extremely sad. People have to use the death of a baby in their hate posts when it had nothing to do with the violence. I can't imagine what the doctors who treated the baby must be feeling," Ms Loitongbam said, adding she has been deeply involved in medical philanthropy and sourcing medicines for the weaker sections. "I wish all of us should now focus on how to resolve the humanitarian crisis," she added.

"Politicising Emotive Issues"

In a post on X, Ms Loitongbam asked people to stop "politicising emotive issues" and "destroying whatever humanity" is left.

The social media posts on the mass burial of 87 people from the Kuki-Zo tribes in Churachandpur district alleged the one-month-old infant was killed by mobs in Imphal valley. Of the 87 bodies, 41 were airlifted from morgues in Imphal months after the violence broke out.

The SOS note sent to prospective donors says the infant was first admitted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal in the second week of April. His parents came from the hill district Churachandpur.

However, following the outbreak of violence on May 3, the parents took shelter in a relief camp set up by the 2nd Manipur Rifles. The next day, i.e. May 4, the relief camp officials rushed the baby to Mother's Care Children Hospital and Research Centre as he needed surgical intervention.

"The father of the baby... is just a farmer and has lost all their belongings during the sudden shifting from RIMS to 2nd MR (Manipur Rifles) relief camp. Under no circumstances he is able to pay for the treatment... There is a need for financial assistance to save the life of the baby," the SOS to the donors read. NDTV has seen the note.

Three days later, the District Commissioner - "a mother herself" - contacted Ms Loitongbam if she could help.

Hospital Warns Of Action

The management of Imphal-based Mother's Care Children Hospital and Research Centre, where the infant was treated, today told NDTV they are discussing taking criminal defamation action against those - especially social media influencers - who shared and circulated the fake information.

"The doctor was very upset. We all tried our best to save the baby. It is not right to use the death of a baby who suffered a serious congenital disease as a propaganda tool. We are doctors. All human lives are the same for us," a top officer of the hospital management said, requesting anonymity.

The officer said the hospital has kept the medical case files of the infant for further action against those who floated the malicious allegations.

After the infant died, the parents did not come to take the body due to the volatile situation, and so the hospital handed over the body to the authorities.

Shubman Gill was at his silken best during Indian team's intra-squad training game at the Tuks Oval on Thursday even though there wasn't an opportunity to get a glimpse of that enchanting sight. Coming in at No. 3, Gill helped himself to a hundred on the second day of the three-day match, playing all the bowlers with consummate ease, adding a dash of confidence in him ahead of the two-match Test series against South Africa beginning on December 26.

The Tuks Oval in Pretoria has been kept out of bounds for media even as the Indian team went ahead with their match simulation ahead of the Boxing Day Test. The venue is around 45-minute drive from the Supersport Park in Centurion where the first Test will be held.

Trying to keep their cards close to the chest, head coach Rahul Dravid and team management didn't want the match to be watched by outsiders as it can give a clearer idea about their strategy to be deployed against the Proteas.

Closed door trainings are a common feature among world's football team's (club and country) where media is only allowed to watch warm-ups and then asked to leave when coaches come to tactical training. But Indian cricket team over the years, has at times, uses the 'Closed Door' policy to keep media at bay for the entire duration.

Apart from Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal also got himself a half-century before being retired out in order to give others a chance to bat.

Meanwhile, Ruturaj Gaikwad's finger injury could possibly warrant a few more days of rest and the Maharashtra right-hander might not be in contention to be selected for the first Test.

Gaikwad had hurt his ring finger during second ODI and wasn't selected for the third match against SA on Thursday.

However, Gaikwad not being considered for selection will not be a big deal as far as Test matches are concerned since all slots in batting order are filled as of now.

Twenty-five schools in Manipur have lost their CBSE affiliation after the state government flagged to the central board that it had not given no-objection certificates to the schools.

The Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) bylaws make it a legal requirement for state board schools to get a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the state government before applying for central board affiliation.

The CBSE SARAS 4.0 website no longer shows the 25 schools in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur as "affiliated". SARAS is short for 'School Affiliation Re-Engineered Automation System' that updates in real-time the affiliation status of over 28,900 schools across India.

"... CBSE has withdrawn affiliation which was recently granted to the schools... with immediate effect on the ground that the NOCs submitted by these schools have not been issued by the authorised functionaries of the state government..." Manipur school education joint secretary Anjali Chongtham said in a statement today.

The Manipur government in the statement also warned it will act against those responsible for violating state education and CBSE rules, or worse, for alleged fraud in submitting affiliation requests to the central board.

Education Minister Th Basanta told reporters in Imphal that the last time the Education Department gave any NOC was in May 2020.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

After an initial investigation, the government has narrowed down to an education officer in Kangpokpi and a former education officer in Churachandpur for allegedly handing out NOCs without the knowledge of the state government, people familiar with the matter in the education department told NDTV today, requesting anonymity.

Eleven of the 25 schools got CBSE affiliation in the period between May 2020 and May 2023, and 14 received affiliation in the past six months. All the 25 schools are in the two hill districts Churachandpur and Kangpokpi, where violence began in May between the valley-majority Meiteis, who want the affirmative action Scheduled Tribes (ST) category, and the hill-majority Kuki tribes, who want a separate administration carved out from Manipur.

The change of the education board from state to central in the two hill districts became extremely controversial after it was seen as a soft attempt at formalising a new arrangement.

At least seven school principals in Kangpokpi district told NDTV on Monday their ZEO Lhingneikim Kipgen, who works under the education department, gave the NOCs. Calls to Ms Kipgen on Monday and Tuesday went unanswered.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

The Churachandpur ZEO told NDTV on Monday his predecessor who left in June this year handled the NOC applications, while he took over in July and has no knowledge of the matter.

In Churachandpur, none of the four newly affiliated schools - before they lost affiliation today - had working phone numbers. One had only '0000' as the contact number. Not having working phones and having inconsistent details such as the phone number or address of the principal turning out to be of a relative are violations of the CBSE's bylaws for affiliation.

"The situation in Manipur after May 3 was such that functioning under the state board was becoming impossible. We have to go to Imphal for exam coordination and other state board work. How would that be possible?" the principal of a Kangpokpi school freshly affiliated with the CBSE told NDTV yesterday, requesting anonymity.

Another school principal in Kangpokpi said they have followed due process in applying for NOC, and showed the letters they have written to the education department seeking NOC for education board switch. Though this principal could not show the education department's response, he showed the NOC they have received from the zonal education officer. The principal declined to comment further when asked whether they knew it could violate rules to not have NOC from the education department under the state minister as the ZEO doesn't have the overall authority to hand out NOCs.

Latest and Breaking News on NDTV

The Kangpokpi school principals, however, questioned what they called the authorities' "obtuse focus" on procedures when all that the students needed amid the ethnic clashes and other cataclysmic disruptions was academic continuity, whether CBSE or state board.

The hill district school principals cited difficulty in coordinating with the education department at a time when battle lines have been clearly drawn on the basis of ethnicity and deep mistrust. All the principals NDTV spoke to in Kangpokpi requested anonymity.

The state government is very clear, however, that action would be taken against schools including withdrawing their affiliation if any of them is again found not following due process.

"The principals are not thinking right. What are they implying? Short-circuit administrative processes amid the unfortunate outbreak of violence? No one said NOC won't be given. All of us work for students. Questionable and unethical decisions by some school administrations can't be allowed to harm the future of students," a senior officer in the education department who was among a small team that looked into the initial investigation in the CBSE affiliation matter told NDTV today, requesting anonymity.

Education department officials on Monday had told NDTV they would not rule out fraud and forgery since the state government had not given any NOC. They said they are constantly speaking to the zonal education officers of Churachandpur and Kangpokpi, but gave not further details.

Smugglers in Singapore have been approaching Indian migrant workers flying home via Changi Airport to act as 'gold mules' by carrying jewellery in exchange for a fee, according to a media report on Sunday.

Travellers who show an interest in being a gold mule are directed to a quiet spot in the airport, where a deal is struck. During negotiations, the courier is assured that a syndicate runner will retrieve the gold jewellery from him when he lands in India, The Straits Times reported.

While it is not illegal in Singapore for travellers to carry precious metals, including gold, out of the country, the couriers risk breaking the law in India when they do not declare the gold they are carrying in, the report quoted Mohamed Bilal, president of the Gem Traders Association of Singapore, as saying.

Male Indian nationals are permitted to carry up to 20 gram of duty-free gold, of a maximum value of Rs 50,000 rupees (SGD 800), into India. The limit for female Indian nationals is double in terms of weight and value.

Gold jewellery carried over and above these limits will attract customs duty.

Bilal said that the practice of smuggling gold through 'mules' has been going on for decades.

Gold smuggling runners at Terminal 1 of the Changi Airport want the 'mules' to carry jewellery of between 25 gram and 30 gram of gold, which is just outside the legal limit, the report said.

Meanwhile, the report said, Indian authorities, including customs officials, are on the lookout for travellers acting as gold mules.

This comes in the wake of a spike in gold smuggling to the country, and amid reports of syndicates targeting travellers at various airports in jurisdictions in the Gulf, as well as in Asia, including Malaysia and Singapore, where gold is cheaper than in India, it said.

There is no weight limit on the amount of gold and other precious metals that can be transported out of Singapore by travellers, the report said, quoting Singapore Police Force.

In India, the world's second-biggest gold consumer, one gram of 24 karat gold costs about SGD 99 (approx Rs 6,177). It would cost about SGD 92.40 (approx Rs 5,765) in Singapore.

A man who entered a store in Gurugram in search of one office bag ended up buying multiple bags for Rs 20,000 in just 15 minutes, all thanks to a persuasive salesperson who surprisingly turned out to be a co-founder of the company. Mr Pranay revealed that the salesman was "Pankaj Garg, the co-founder of DailyObjects, an Indian tech accessories and lifestyle brand with over Rs 100 crore in annual revenue". "It was a bit awkward," he wrote.

But despite the awkward realisation, Mr Pranay said that the co-founder continued to showcase various products with genuine enthusiasm, revealing some fascinating aspects of his entrepreneurial journey. "During the conversation, he told me that: He has traveled all across India and over 25+ countries to get trends & design inspiration. Collaborated with over 500+ craftsmen. Served over 2.5+ million customers," Mr Pranay wrote.

"The passion to sell, the hunger to grow, and the vision to be the best could be seen in his eyes," the LinkedIn user said.

"Unwavering passion and commitment had turned a routine shopping trip into a memorable encounter with entrepreneurship. I love being in Gurgaon. You bump into celebrities and startup founders randomly at unexpected places!" Mr Pranay concluded his post.

Shared just three days back, Mr Pranay's post has gone viral on social media. It has accumulated numerous likes and comments. Social media users were quite impressed with the story.

Eight months after they were killed in ethnic violence in Manipur, the remains of 19 people belonging to the Kuki Zo community were laid to rest in the state's Kangpokpi district on Friday.

Friends and relatives attended the mass burial organised by the Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU) at Phaijang village.

Bodies of 87 other members of the tribal community will be buried on December 20 in Churachandpur district, convenor of the Joint Philanthropic Organisations( JPO) Laldawnlian Varte said.

Remains of the 19 victims had been lying in morgues for almost eight months in Imphal. They were finally given an "honourable" burial, the organisers said.

Many houses in the Kuki majority district hoisted black flags as markets and business establishments were closed and public transport was off the roads following a 12-hour shutdown called by the COTU to mark it as mourning day.

On Thursday, 60 bodies were airlifted to Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts after being shifted from the morgues of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences and the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal Valley.

Of those 60, nineteen were laid to rest during the day in Kangpokpi district, while 41 others were sent to Churachandpur.

"There are 46 bodies lying at Churachandpur district hospital. On December 20, those 46 bodies will be buried along with 41 others brought to the district from Imphal," the JPO convenor said.

He said the decision was taken according to the wishes of the families. The ethnic clashes broke out in Manipur on May 3 after a "Tribal Solidarity March" was organised in the hill districts of the state to protest against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.

Meiteis account for about 53 per cent of Manipur's population and live mostly in the Imphal valley. Tribals -- Nagas and Kukis -- constitute little more than 40 per cent and reside in the hill districts.

Four BBC staff members on Tuesday announced plans to leave the organisation and form a new entity in India named Collective Newsroom, which will provide services "as commissioned by the BBC" and in compliance with the country's foreign direct investment (FDI) rules.

According to a statement from the UK-based public service broadcaster, Collective Newsroom has been established as an Indian company that is wholly owned by Indian citizens. It replaces BBC World Service India to continue to provide language-based content.

The move follows the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) premises in India facing "surveys" by tax authorities and an ensuing investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over alleged FDI violations earlier this year.

"The establishment of Collective Newsroom Private Limited ensures the BBC and Collective Newsroom can meet their shared commitment to Indian audiences and cover stories on India that matter to global audiences. It is in compliance with the Indian Foreign Direct Investment law," reads the BBC statement.

"Collective Newsroom has been established as an Indian company, wholly owned by Indian citizens, with four existing staff members leaving the BBC to lead Collective Newsroom. These senior leaders have a wealth of editorial and programme-making experience," it said.

"The BBC will commission Collective Newsroom to produce its six Indian language services as well as Indian digital output and Indian YouTube channel in English for audiences globally," it added.

"Audiences in India can be assured that the BBC's Indian language services and unique range of quality output will inform, educate and entertain audiences across our diverse and highly engaged country under the agreement between the BBC and Collective Newsroom. We launch Collective Newsroom with big ambitions for audiences in India and beyond," said Rupa Jha, Senior News Editor, BBC India, and founding shareholder of Collective Newsroom.

The BBC said it has a long-held and deep-rooted place in India's media landscape, having first launched the Hindi language service in 1940. Since then, it has developed a range of BBC output, expanding the number of Indian language services and growing audience figures from "decade-to-decade with its agenda-setting and high impact journalism".

"The BBC's presence in India is steeped in a rich history that has always put audiences first, so we warmly welcome the formation of Collective Newsroom which continues that progression. The BBC will get first class content from Collective Newsroom that will be rooted in India and in line with the editorial standards audiences expect from the BBC," said Jonathan Munro, Deputy CEO, BBC News.

Liliane Landor, Senior Controller, BBC News International Services, added: "Two of the BBC's critical strengths are its truly global output for audiences and our reputation as a trusted source of news.

"We are deeply committed to excellence in journalism for and from India, and this agreement ensures the continued production of independent, international and impartial journalism that the BBC News brand is renowned for in India and around the world." Under the new arrangement, activity for BBC Monitoring and the BBC's English language newsgathering operation for global output will remain with the BBC.

In India, content is provided in six languages - BBC News Hindi, BBC News Marathi, BBC News Gujarati, BBC News Punjabi, BBC News Tamil, BBC News Telugu, as well as in English, to 82 million people around the country on average each week.

According to official statistics, BBC News Hindi is the BBC's language service with the largest audience and in 2023, across all platforms, its weekly reach figure grew 27 per cent year-on-year.

The BBC World Service claims a reach of 318 million people on average every week globally and operates 42 different language services.

Licypriya Kangujam, 12-year-old climate activist from Manipur, dashed on to the stage at the United Nations Climate Conference 2023 (COP28) in Dubai, today. She bolted onto the stage holding a sign above her head that read, "End fossil fuels. Save our planet and our future."

The teenager delivered a short speech after rushing on the stage, protesting against the use of fossil fuels for which she received a round of applause from the audience before being escorted away.

COP28 Director-General Ambassador Majid Al Suwaidi said he admired the young girl's enthusiasm and encouraged audience present at the event to give her another round of applause.

The activist from Manipur posted the video of the event on X, and said, "They detained me for over 30 minutes after this protest. My only crime- Asking to Phase Out Fossil Fuels, the top cause of climate crisis today. Now they kicked me out of COP28.

In another post on X she wrote, "What is the reason to cease my badge for protesting against the fossil fuels? If you're really standing against the fossil fuels, then you must support me and you must immediately release my badges. This is gross violation and abuse of Child Rights in the UN premises which is against the UN principle. I have the rights to raise my voice at UN."

Phasing out fossil fuels has been an ongoing debate at the COP28 with nearly 200 countries having joined in trying to resolve the issue.

About 60,000 delegates from 190 nations are a part of this year's climate conference in Dubai. The 12-year-old is a Special Envoy of Timor Leste.

The newly elected BJP MLAs in Rajasthan will meet in Jaipur Tuesday to formally pick the next chief minister of the state, ending days of suspense after the party won the assembly elections.

“The meeting of the BJP Legislature Party has been called at 4 pm on Tuesday at the BJP state office. Registration of all newly elected MLAs of the BJP will start at 1.30 pm,” BJP state general secretary and MLA Bhajanlal Sharma said.

He said all newly elected MLAs have been asked to compulsorily attend the meeting.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who has been appointed as observer by the party, and the two co-observers -- national vice president Saroj Pandey and national general secretary Vinod Tawde -- will be present at the meeting, BJP leader in charge for Rajasthan Arun Singh told reporters.

When asked about the possibility of a Dalit leader being chosen as the Chief Minister, Mr Singh said, “Everything will be revealed tomorrow.” Former chief minister Vasundhara Raje and Union ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Ashwini Vaishnaw are said to be in the running for the Chief Minister's post in Rajasthan, one of three states that the BJP won in the recent elections.

The MLAs were informed Monday about the meeting of the legislature party, where the BJP's central leadership will make known its choice for the post, nine days after the results of the November 25 elections came in.

The BJP won 115 seats out of the 199 where polling took place. Polling was postponed in one constituency due to the death of a candidate.

Earlier, BJP MLA Jogeshwar Garg said the observers will hold one-on-one talks with the MLAs before the meeting to formally elect the legislature party leader, or the CM-designate.

When asked about the new legislators who met former chief minister Vasundhara Raje at her home Monday, Kirodi Lal Meena said 17 MLAs visited him as well after the results and this should not be seen as lobbying. Meena resigned from the Rajya Sabha after his election as an MLA.

Several MLAs have called on former Raje in recent days in what was seen as a show of support, amid speculation over what the party will decide. She also met party leaders in Delhi.

Rajendra Rathore, who lost the assembly elections, claimed that the BJP does not have the show-of-strength culture. Neither does anybody has the courage to do so, he said.

He said MLAs go to meet senior leaders to exchange wishes and it should not be seen in that sense, and asserted that all BJP leaders in the state are united.

Mr Rathore said the new "double engine” will take shape in Rajasthan tomorrow, a reference to the party holding power both in the state and at the Centre.

The 2011 ODI World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir opened up on his heated conversation with Shahid Afridi and said that he has moved on a long back. In an interview during the ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, Gambhir talked about how the media always showed his fight with Shahid Afridi before every 'India vs Pakistan' match. The former player also asked them to show something positive like the Men in Blue's win against the "Men in Green' in the Asia Cup final.

"When there's a match between India and Pakistan why do they always show my fight with Shahid Afridi, there are so many other fights that have happened. Show something positive. Show when India has won the Asia Cup against Pakistan," Gambhir said.

In 1984, India won their maiden Asia Cup title after they defeated Pakistan by 54 runs at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium to win the tournament.

Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi have had a history of on-field rivalry. In 2009, the two fought during an ODI in Kanpur.

In 2023, they renewed their rivalry in the opening match of the Legends League Cricket (LLC). Gambhir captained India Maharajas, while Afridi led Asia Lions. During the match, Gambhir was hit while batting. Afridi checked on Gambhir and asked if he was okay.

The two moments went viral on social media. Gambhir and Afridi have also had a war of words. Gambhir once said, "Afridi has only grown in age, mentally he is still 16."

Gambhir further lambasted the media for always running behind numbers. He added that everything is not about TRP.

"At the end, it's a game of numbers, right? In the end, how much traction you're getting on social media, it's not all about TRP. If you keep showing one thing then it gets negative. There are many other positive things to show as well, India has defeated Pakistan in many important matches," he added.

Talking about his brawl with Afridi, the 42-year-old said that he moved on from it a long back and if they want to stick to it then the former player is completely fine with it.

Gambhir added that he could not control the broadcaster, what he could do is to win all the games and be passionate towards his team or franchise.

"If you don't have to move on then absolutely fine with it, because I have moved on a long back. How can I control what a broadcaster wants to show this is not in my hands. What is in my hand is to win all the games and be passionate about it and be accountable of true to the franchise or team that I am representing," he concluded.

In an ODI match in 2007 between India and Pakistan, the duo was involved in a fight after a boundary in the 20th over. In the second ball, Gambhir was running for a single when Afridi came in the way. Following this, the two were involved in a heated exchange but later the on-field umpires had to cool them down.

A senior lawyer of the Supreme Court has written to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, drawing his attention to the practice of writing "open letters" by some people and addressed to Chief Justices to "exert undue pressure on the administration of justice".

Senior lawyer Adish C Aggarwala, who is also the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, in the letter said such open letters are mostly carried in the media. "... Such letters are written demonstratively with respect to a few selected cases and at the behest of some influential litigants," Mr Aggarwala said.

He cited examples from the past: "A letter was written to the then Chief Justice of India stating without any basis that certain commercial matters were being listed before 'benches of preference'. A letter is written by the same member of the Bar to the then Chief Justice of India wherein he complained that while being present virtually, he was not being allowed to speak at the retirement function of a Supreme Court judge..."

In the letter, Mr Aggarwala alleged undignified behaviour against judged by some lawyers a few days before their retirement has become a common phenomenon. "... It is aimed at attracting publicity and creating an element of uneasiness among judges, and to attract some select clientele whose brief lacks anything on merit," Mr Aggarwala said, adding due to this misbehaviour by some senior lawyers, the Bar suffers disgrace and the harmony between the Bar and the Bench gets disturbed.

"The administration cannot waste its precious time entertaining every letter making wild and imaginary accusations. The assignment of cases is not open to question on the judicial or the administrative side and, as a corollary, it is neither required to be by way of a speaking order nor is it required to be justified by responding to any person calling it into question," the senior lawyer said.

"The writing of such letters is therefore malicious, and calculated to embarrass the administration. The time has come where one should put an end to the practice of writing of such letters... It is essential to curb every attempt to scandalise the court mechanisms with insinuations and falsehood, aimed at mischievously shaking the confidence of the public in our courts," Mr Aggarwala said.

Lightweight foundation, sheer glam and no make-up looks are some of the biggest beauty trends this year. Acing the art of minimal glam has been the go-to beauty choice of many celebrities. But rarely do we see a celeb strutting the red carpet in a makeup-free appearance. The reigning queen of minimal make-up this year is none other than Hollywood star Pamela Anderson. Her most recent red carpet appearance, at the 2023 British Fashion Awards in London, clarified why. The actress left us in awe with her “fresh-faced realness” that spoke volumes about healthy skin goals. The Baywatch star paired her bare skin look with a monochrome pantsuit from the shelves of Victoria Beckham. Pamela wore an Ivory-hued three-piece set, featuring an oversized blazer resting on her shoulders, a loose-fitted top with a close-up neckline and matching flare trousers. She sealed her red carpet look by tying her hair in a fuss-free low ponytail. Pamela kept her look strictly minimal, as she picked a subtle pair of silver studs with it.

As we've said before, this isn't the first time that Pamela Anderson went makeup-free in front of the world. In August of this year, the star dropped a picture of herself that truly elevated clear skin goals. In the image, Pamela embraced her natural beauty thoroughly. She also captioned her post "It's never too late… to bloom" and her fans responded with encouraging comments such as, "We love how you keep finding ways to #growbeautifully" and "Pure beauty." Snuggled in an off-white knitted outfit, the actress' unfiltered beauty shone through.

For Pamela Anderson, full-faced makeup has always been about a flawless, dewy base that must scream "effortless" from miles away. At one event, Pamela paired her dewy base with a gorgeous stroke of blush that made her appear like a breath of fresh air. Whether with makeup or without, Pamela has always preferred thin brows with a flawless arch. If you are wearing an effortless glam look, how can you not go with nude lips? The highlighted temples made the actress' skin seem glass-like. Yet again, she left her hair open with styled curls at the ends. She carried this look with a white shirt tucked into matching trousers.

Pamela Anderson's ‘less is more' philosophy deserves a page or two in your beauty file right away.
