Pakistan skipper Babar Azam on Wednesday said the massive 238-run win over Nepal in the Asia Cup opener will give his side confidence ahead of their blockbuster clash against arch-rivals India on Saturday. Pakistan crushed minnows Nepal by a huge margin of 238 runs here in a Group A match to make a winning start to the Asia Cup. Pakistan will now travel to Sri Lanka for the much-anticipated match against India to be played in Pallekele.
"This game was good preparation for the India game because it gave us confidence. We want to give 100 per cent every match, hope to do that there as well," Babar said after the end of the match. Babar smashed 151, his 19th ODI century while Iftikhar Ahmed (109 not out) hit his maiden ODI ton to power Pakistan to an imposing 342 for six after opting to bat.
Babar was involved in two crucial partnerships after a sedate start -- first stitching 86 runs with Mohammad Rizwan (44 off 50) and then sharing an whirlwind 214 runs for the fifth wicket with Iftikhar. In reply, Nepal were bowled out for just 104 in 23.4 overs with Shadab Khan taking four wickets and Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf claiming two each.
"When I went in, I played a couple of balls. The ball wasn't coming on, pitch was two-paced. (Mohammad) Rizwan and I built the partnership and see what happened. Sometimes, Rizwan gave me confidence and vice-versa," he said.
"When Iftikhar came, the tempo changed. He played well too. After two-three fours, he was comfortable, he smacked it after 40 overs.
"I'm satisfied. A couple of overs we were not up to the mark. Pacers did well, spinners struck too," Babar added.
A Kolkata-Bengaluru IndiGo flight reported a mid-air glitch on Tuesday after one of its engines shut down. The flight, however, landed safely.
The incident happened within hours of the carrier's other aircraft suffered a similar failure.
The first engine glitch incident happened on Indigo's Madurai-Mumbai flight earlier in the day.
"Engine 2 stall occurred and Engine 2 oil chip detected warning came. Engine 2 was shut down as per the checklist and the aircraft landed safely," the country's aviation regulator, the DGCA, said in a statement.
IndiGo also released a statement, citing a technical issue before landing in Mumbai.
"The pilot prioritized the landing in Mumbai. The aircraft is held in Mumbai and will be back in operation after necessary maintenance. We regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers," IndiGo said.
Both these aircraft were running on Pratt and Whitney engines, officials said.
Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, in a recent interview, opened up about her mental health struggle and being diagnosed with manic depression. Talking to FWhy Podcast, the Raees actor said that her mental health aggravated after stepping into Bollywood with the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees, and the 2017 incident, where pictures of her smoking with actor Ranbir Kapoor went viral. Mahira Khan made her Bollywood debut with Raees alongside Shah Rukh Khan in 2017, the same year the smoking pictures with Ranbir Kapoor went viral. Reflecting on the backlash she faced, Mahira said, "That (backlash) brought out the anxiety and depression hidden inside me. That was a hard time for me. I felt attacked. The constant backlash… You are getting mean tweets, and comments on their channels (Indian channels). That was a time my faith broke and I developed severe anxiety to the point that one day I had a panic attack and fainted. That was the first time I went to therapy. But that didn't work out, as I went to several therapists... that year was rough... I couldn't sleep, my hands used to shake."
Mahira also discussed about the 2016 Uri attack, after which Pakistani actors were banned from working in Bollywood.
Mahira said, "I had finished the film (Raees) and everything was going fine and then suddenly this attack (Uri attack) happens. Politically everything gets messed up. With India, it is always political. But the fact that it could get this messy! I was not scared, but I was threatened. Constant tweets I would get calls, and very scary ones. The only thing I wanted was that 'Okay fine I can't go to India to promote it (Raees), but I hope it releases in my country because I knew people would rush to watch it as he (Shah Rukh Khan) is loved here (in Pakistan)."

In a horrifying incident, US police found a Minnesota Army veteran, Danicka Bergeson, 33, dead in her Hopkins home last month, just 11 days after her abusive boyfriend was released from jail on parole.
According to a complaint filed on Wednesday, the building manager reported "groaning, yelling, and banging" sounds coming from her apartment. The police have named Ms. Bergeson's boyfriend Matthew Scott Brenneman as a suspect in connection with her death, according to Fox 10.
Police allegedly found Ms Bergeson's body wrapped in layers of blanket. The cops also found her 39-year-old boyfriend inside the bathroom "grunting, and growling" and smelling of bleach.
After her death, Ms Bergeson's father, David Bergeson told KARE11 that Danicka Bergeson had a clear moral compass. "Everything with her was always black or white. She knew exactly what was right and wrong."
"Danicka's smile was infectious. Her compassion for animals and passion for learning were admirable," friend Nancy Andrews shared in her obituary page in July.
Brenneman pleaded guilty to two separate domestic abuse cases in June as part of a parole agreement in which he would not contact Bergeson after his release from jail pending a sentencing hearing scheduled for August, Fox 10 reported.
He pleaded guilty to striking and biting Ms Bergeson in April while intoxicated.
According to documents by Hennepin County court, Brenneman was released a day after that incident and again attacked Ms Bergeson in May.
"Defendant responded by striking her with his fists several times and biting her. Defendant then proceeded to choke victim by placing his hands around her neck and reported difficulty breathing," the statement reads. "Victim reported being choked for approximately one minute and thirty seconds. While Defendant was choking Victim, Defendant stated he was going to kill her. The victim was in fear that he would act on this threat."
He is now facing one charge of second-degree murder and one charge of second-degree murder while under a restraining order.
The police are investigating Ms Bergeson's death as a homicide.
The hunt for the 90-meter throw goes on as Neeraj fell a little short of the mark in the World Athletics Championships 2023 despite clinching the elusive Gold medal. After starting off the final with a foul throw, Neeraj made amends in the following throws, but could only manage the maximum distance of 88.17 meters in his second attempt. Though the effort was good enough to keep his lead intact till the very end to clinch the gold, Neeraj remains unsatisfied with the throw, although elated with the fact that he was able to add another medal to his trophy cabinet.
Arshad Nadeem, the Commonwealth Games champion with 87.82 m bagged a silver medal while Czech Republic's Jakub Vadlejch secured the bronze with a best throw of 86.67 m.
Neeraj who looked a bit disappointed told reporters in the post-match conference, "I wanted to throw more than 90m tonight. But it needs all parts of the puzzle to be there. I couldn't put it all together this evening. Maybe next time."
Although the 25-year-old took the lead in the second round which remained untouched throughout the final, he still yearned to break his own mark and take it further in his final throw.
"After the second round, I was thinking of pushing myself because I knew that I could get a better throw. But there is a lot of pressure on technique and speed. We have to push a lot in the qualifying round. There was only a single day for recovery so it was also a big factor. I go forward with the motivation of pushing myself till the last throw," Neeraj said.
The Tokyo Olympic gold medallist wasn't the only Indian competing in the final, Kishore Jena (best of 84.77 m) and DP Manu (best of 84.14 m) were also in the mix and finished fifth and sixth respectively.
This was Neeraj's second medal at the World Championships after he secured a silver in 2022. Previously, Anju Bobby George had bagged the bronze for the country in the 2003 World Championships for the women's long jump. He has also bagged gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2018 and the Asian Games 2018.
Neeraj will be back on the field in the Asian Games, Hangzhou which is scheduled from September 23 to October 8. This competition will mark the final major competition of this year for the 25-year-old javelin thrower.

A Dalit man attacked by six persons in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar, has told reporters that he and three others were urinated on and told to lick shoes on which their assailants had spat. The man, alongwith the others -- accused of stealing some goats and pigeons -- were also allegedly beaten up and hung upside down from a tree. A video of the ordeal shot and circulated by one of the attackers has sparked outrage and a political row. A shutdown was observed today in Haregaon village as part of a protest.
"I was hung upside down by a rope around my legs. I had three small children with me, they were also beaten up. We are their neighbors. We are from a lower caste (Mahar). They were angry... They peed on us. We were asked to lick shoes on which they had spat," said Shubham Maghade, who later filed a complaint with the police.
The 20-year-old has also named his attackers -- Pappu Parkhe, Raju Borge, Yuvraj Galande and Nana Patil. He said the men came and took him to the house of Yuvraj Galande, where they were stripped and beaten up.
The police, who took action after the video of the attack was widely circulated, has detained one of the men accused. The rest are on the run.
"A case has been registered under Section 307, atrocity. Six men have been accused. One accused has been detained and search is on for the remaining accused. The victim was suspected of stealing pigeons and goats. It is claimed that he is from Mahar (caste)," said Swati Bhor, a senior police officer.

The Opposition Congress has termed the incident a "blot" on humanity.

A gunman driven by racial hate shot and killed three Black people in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday before fatally turning the gun on himself, authorities said.
The shooter, a white male in his early 20s, was outfitted with a tactical vest and armed with an AR-style rifle and a handgun when he started firing inside a Dollar General discount store, Sheriff TK Waters said.
"He targeted a certain group of people and that's Black people. That's what he said he wanted to kill. And that's very clear," the sheriff said, adding there were two male victims and one female victim.
Manifestos discovered by the gunman's family shortly before the attack "detail the shooter's disgusting ideology of hate," Sheriff Waters told a news conference.
The FBI would investigate the shooting as a hate crime, said Sherri Onks, the bureau's special agent for Jacksonville.
The shooting was the latest in a spate of gun violence this weekend in the United States, following deadly outbursts in Boston, Chicago and Oklahoma.

Pakistan's jailed prime minister Imran Khan's wife Bushra Bibi on Friday urged the Supreme Court to take "serious notice" of her husband's deteriorating health, saying it posed a "serious danger to his life".
The 70-year-old Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman is currently lodged in the Attock District Jail in Punjab province after his conviction in the Toshakhana corruption case earlier this month.
Bushra Bibi moved the Supreme court following her meeting with the cricketer-turned-politician at the prison on Tuesday.
Bushra through her counsel Rifaqat Hussain Shah submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court, requesting it to intervene for the sake of Imran Khan's health.
According to the affidavit, Bushra "found a significant decline in the petitioner's health" and that he "appears to have lost weight substantially during the course of his confinement, particularly loss of muscles around his arms".
"Such a decline in the health of a person in his 70s can be a serious danger to his life...it is feared that the petitioner's life is seriously threatened for which it is humbly prayed that this honourable court may kindly take serious notice of the same," it said.
The affidavit stated that Bushra Bibi was allowed to meet Khan after "unwarranted delays and difficulties" on August 22 at the Attock jail.
This is not the first time that Bushra has expressed fear of her husband's life in danger. She has expressed similar concerns in a letter to the Punjab government last week. In the letter, the former first lady said she feared that Imran Khan could be "poisoned" in jail.
As Khan languishes in jail, his legal team has been trying hard to get relief from courts.
However, earlier in the day, the Islamabad High Court adjourned until Monday the hearing of a petition challenging Khan's conviction and sentence in the Toshakahna corruption case.

Former Indian captain and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly said that he has no favourites for winning the India versus Pakistan Asia Cup 2023 match because both teams are really good. The Asia Cup to be held in Pakistan and Sri Lanka will kickstart from August 30 onwards, with the match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy set to serve as the Men in Blue's campaign opener. Ganguly also said that the fitness of Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who made his return from injury and led India to a 2-0 series win against Ireland, will get better with time and India did the right thing by picking Axar Patel in the squad for the continental tournament, as he can also bat well.
"Both India and Pakistan are good cricket teams. The team that plays well will win. I have no favourites....With time his (Jasprit Bumrah) fitness will get better....You can only have three spinners and I think they have done the right thing by picking Axar (Patel), he can bat," said Ganguly while talking to reporters in Kolkata on Thursday.
The squad also marks the return of Jasprit Bumrah to ODI cricket after a gap of more than one year. After proving his fitness in the ongoing T20I series against Ireland, Bumrah is set to test himself in the 50-over format heading into the World Cup. India's pace attack will be boosted by the return of Mohammed Siraj, who was not in the team for some time due to a sore ankle.
Tilak Varma made it to India's Asia Cup squad on the back of his strong performance against West Indies during the tour that ended this month.
Bowling all-rounders Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel are also in the squad to give the captain more diversity in choices. Apart from Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja is also in the team as an all-rounder.
Pakistan, India and Nepal are in Group A while Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are in Group B. The tournament will follow a hybrid model with Pakistan hosting four matches across two venues and Sri Lanka hosting the remaining games.
The six group-stage matches will be followed by the Super Fours, beginning September 6.
The final will be played by the top two teams at the end of the Super Fours on September 17 in Colombo.
Squad: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna.
Snakes are one of the scariest reptiles that exist on the planet. However, their unique and amazing abilities often make them fascinating creatures. They are also masters of disguise and possess a special ability to confuse predators with their tactics. Recently, the residents of an Australian home were shocked after a snake was found hiding behind a photo frame in their living room.
In the hair-raising video shared by snake-catching and reptile relocation group Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7, a carpet python can be seen slithering behind the photo frame. According to the snake rescuer Dan Rumsey, the reptile was the cause of the artwork being tilted away from the wall.
The residents of the house gasped as they watched the removal of the snake. "Alright so, behind (the artwork) - oh there it is. It's decided to come out that way," Mr Rumsey says. The snake's head can be seen behind the frame as Mr Rumsey tilts the frame. "Maybe if I just give it a bit of a tickle, I just don't want the painting to drop," the rescuer adds. He then keeps the frame on the back of the couch and later moves it down to the floor. Meanwhile, the reptile wraps itself around the picture. In a few seconds, the snake catcher grabs the snake and says, "There we go. that makes my life a bit easier."
This non-venomous snake breed called a carpet python can be found in Australia, Indonesia, and New Guinea. They don't have fangs, but rather "have numerous sharp recurved teeth designed for holding onto prey," according to the Snake Catchers website.
Since being shared, the video has amassed several reactions on social media.
"I'm starting to think Florida and Australia in competition with these snakes popping up everywhere," said a user.
"How strong is that picture hook!!" remarked a person.
A third user added, "My daughter would've kept it as her pet."
"It just wanted to be in the picture of things," added another person.
"I'm not okay with all these snakes showing up in peoples attics, toilets and photos on my feed now that I commented on freakin Tarzans feed! My anxiety is through the roof!" commented a person.
Over the years, football has seen some incredible goal celebrations. From Cristiano Ronaldo's Siuuu to Edinson Cavani's archer, goal celebrations are part and parcel of what makes this game so special. Demonstrating just that, a comedian's slow-motion impression of a football goal celebration has captured the attention of social media.

His brilliant demonstration of how a footballer scores a goal and goes for a wild celebration has gone viral on the internet.
In the now-viral video, Mr Porter began to mimic a footballer running down the pitch with his eyes on the ball, all in slow motion. As soon as he reaches the imaginary ball he pulls himself up as if to hit it with his head into the goal. He waits and confirms that he has indeed scored before going into celebration mode. There was laughter in the room as he went wide-eyed before celebrating with a pretend knee-slide and thank god for his success.
The caption of the video read, "Up the creek loving the slow-mo goal celebration."

“Pushpa Raj. Congratulationsssssss Bunny anna,” posted Vijay Deverakonda on X (formerly known as Twitter), adding a fire emoji and the hashtag #ThaggedeLe. “Thaggede Le” is Allu Arjun's catchphrase in Pushpa. Bunny is Allu Arjun's nickname and also the title of a film he starred in.

A billion hearts are full after Chandrayaan-3 successfully made a soft landing near the moon's South Pole. As the country rejoiced and celebrated India's big feat, joining in the celebrations was also global star Priyanka Chopra. Sharing a picture of the moon landing on her Instagram feed, the Mujhse Shaadi Karogi actress wrote, "India on the moon. #proud. Congratulations to the brilliant minds. ISRO for making Chandrayaan-3 such a success." Her post is all heart. See what she posted below:

Besides Priyanka Chopra, some of the biggest names in the Bollywood industry also celebrated the day by posting on their respective social media feeds. Shah Rukh Khan found the perfect lines from a song featuring himself, to sum up the moment. SRK borrowed from Chaand Taare who featured in his 1997 film Yes Boss to caption his post.
In the film, Shah Rukh Khan sings Chaand Taare to his co-star Juhi Chawla and the romantic lyrics lend themselves perfectly to India's moon touchdown. “Chaand Taare todh laoon….Saari Duniya par main chhaoon (I will pluck the moon and stars and spread them across the world),” SRK wrote, adding: “Aaj India aur ISRO chhaa gaya. Congratulations to all the scientists and engineers…the whole team which has made India so proud. Chandrayaan-3 has successfully soft-landed on the moon.”
See Shah Rukh Khan's post here:
After a 40-day journey starting from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, the Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) Chandrayaan-3 mission landed successfully. The Vikram lander made a soft lunar landing around 6 PM on August 23.
With this touchdown on the moon in the second attempt in four years, India has become the fourth country to master the technology of soft-landing on the lunar surface after the US, China and the erstwhile Soviet Union.
According to PTI reports, Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2. Its objectives are to demonstrate a safe and soft landing on the lunar surface, roving on the Moon, and to conduct in-situ scientific experiments.
